Thank u for answers! ๐Climbs -- on the tops or the hoods. And relaxed. Arms slightly bent. And relaxed. Did I mention relaxed? Don't let your shoulders bunch up and shrug toward your ears.

Thank u for answers! ๐Climbs have been answered.
Descents. On a steep long descent you will go faster if you get aero. Position low, hands on bars close to stem, knees on top tube and pedals at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock.
Tyler Hamilton has kindly arranged to demonstrate this position for me during TdF 2003

Or go one step better from that position and unclip from the pedals, swing your legs behind the seat so your body is horizontal with the ground and slide back so your abdomen is on the seat. (not recommended)
However, if you are not confident on a bike and you are riding on a busy downhill or with othe riders, keep your hands close to your brakes.
It is also group riding etiquette that the lead rider on less than steep downhills pedals to increase speed to avoid riders behind constantly braking. Gravity + reduced air resistance = higher velocity.
