I've used an Altura Orkney bar bag for about a year now. Very good size, comes with rain cover, map holder and plastic T-piece for mounting lights etc. under the bag. It uses the Klickfix system. Definatly worth the extra over the Skye model, as the fabric is much more resilient and much less affected by UV light. It's also lifetime guaranteed. I've no experience of STI's though as I use bar-end shifters.

I have been researching bar bags today but couldn't getmy hands on a Orkney. Question for you, does the back sit very high above the handlebar, is the mounting plate at the top of the bags back or downtowards the middle ?

I bought a Freedom Bikepacking handlebar bag several years ago and it's still going strong. The side webbing (for externally holding odds and ends is a bit flabbier than it was but that's no surprise given its age). Well recommended.

Freedom Bikepacking went out of business some years ago now which is a shame, as I also liked their panniers.

I think Wiggle have them - that's where I got mine from. Just measured - the top of the bag is ~10cm from the top of the handlebars. The mounting plate is pretty much central on the back. Happy to provide more details.
