Well its time to upgrade from my 1997 GT Outpost Trail to something
beefier and something with front sus.
I am thinking of a GT Ricocht, Pantera or Zaskar of the same era. I
know most of you will laugh but i think the bikes back in the day were
much better. Ive tried a few different models at my LBS and came to the
same conclusion.....they felt cheap and junky. My outpost feels better
Im not sure how GT sized the frames back then but my outpost would
probably be considered too big for me. At stand over, it barely touches
the ol bag if you know what i mean. I cant imagine that is good but i
love the frame. It has been a blast to ride over the years. I just want
to get something with better componets, v-brakes, front sus, etc.
I measure my current frame from the middle of the bb to the top of the
seat tube post and i get about 20 inches. THe top tube from the middle
of the headset to the seatpost is about 22.5 inches. I am a bit nervous
buying an older bike and not knowing the specific sizes and what not.
Does anyone have any opinions on any of these frames \ bikes? I have
been frantically hunting for somthing for about a month now because i
want to get riding before summer is spent.
