I need a new bike, after some surgery to remove some unecessary bits of disc and spine. The very old hardtail (12 speed with a bio-rythm crank!) doesn't cut it any more. I've pretty well settled on the GT Mountain series I-drive 3.0, but I'm looking for honest opinions
I commute to work (17 k's) mostly over cycle paths, that are broken bitumen with tree roots etc, and hack through the bush onto a single trail for about 1.5 k's.
I'm also considering XC racing (in the old blokes division), so hopefully this bike will handle some not too serious stuff.
For <$1500 AUS, it comes with Mazrocchi forks, Fox vanilla coil, Alivio front/Deore Rear, Truativ 5d crank and Tektro brakes.
Any stories, good or bad appreciated
