Last year (or was it the year before) the GTBR stopped at Lake Barrington overnight during a rowing regatta. Being a rower and a rider, it was great to catch up with a few riders - young and old. I wondered how many made it up the hill out of the Lake without stopping. I often do a 50km clockwise circuit from the Lake, through Sheffield, Gowrie Park during regattas.

If the GTBR is stopping at the Lake this year, take time to have a look at the World Championship Rowing Course and talk to the rowers.

If you can make it up the hill in less than 20 minutes you are going well (3km, average 7.5% grade, 42 corners). It's as tough as the Col du Galibier (believe me, I've done them both).

GTBR is not doing the west coast, it is doing the east coast.
