Great Glen Way

I have cycled it twice (from Inverness to Fort William) in September 2001
and September 2002...... it was not busy with walkers or cyclists at

so much unlike the West Highland Way which can at times be like Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday
night......

I walked it during the summer of 2001. From Fort Williams to Fort Augustus, it's a nice, easy walk
alongside the canal. However from Fort Augustus on, the path becomes mainly forest roads, which i
found rather uninteresting. If i were you, i would skip the 'official' start in Fort Williams which
goes through the local industrial park(!); instead, start at the Old Inverlochy Castle. Also, Fort
Augustus, though very pretty, is also highly touristic and definitely not a walker friendly town.
Be warned.
