There are no rules, simply customs and conventions. You might like to know that, like those who
write letters to newspaper editors in green ink, those who top post to newsgroups have acquired an
unfortunate reputation for being clueless intemperates. This may have something to do with the fact
that top posting destroys the logical sequence of a discussion, and hence is only likely to be used
by those to whom logical sequence is an alien concept.
The usual excuse "I top post because that's where <my posting program> puts the cursor" makes about
as much sense as pooing in your trousers because that's where your mum put your bum.
But it's entirely up to you how you wish others to see you.
