Since there are several contributors on this group from Scandinavia, I thought a news item I heard
today would be of interest.
Transparency International, a watchdog group, recently announced its rankings of the
world's countries, regarding the level of dishonesty and corruption in their governments
and their agencies.
Finland, followed by Iceland and Denmark, are listed as having the cleanest and least corrupt
governments. Bangladesh has the most corrupt government, according to this group's studies.
From a source at Nat. Public Radio (NPR-USA), I hear that the newly reorganized Iraqi
government agencies have had about the same high level of corruption restored to them that
existed before the ouster of the previous regime.
I assume from the results of the study, that if I committed a traffic violation in Finland, it
would not improve my position if I handed a cop a large denomination of money, when asked for
my identification.
