Thanks for passing along this information. But dang, I can't find any
information about the sponsor(s) this research!

OK, since spouse has suffered for years from gout, I did a little
checking with my "fingers" (er, telephone) to get more information. I
contacted one of the physicians' offices listed from the website and
asked some questions.

1) The clinical trial is sponsored by "Taps Pharmaceutical" (sp?)
somewhere out of the Chicago area.

2) The drug/medication used in the trial is called febuxostat
(fuh-BUX-oh-stat)

3) To join the trial (if accepted), a gout sufferer cannot be on any
gout medication for at least 28 days

4) This medication, febuxostat, is not approved by the FDA

5) The medication is similar to allopurinol

6) All of the above were told to me by a kind lady on the phone at a
participating doctor's office and should not be taken as written in
stone <----- in other words, this is my disclaimer <g>.
