Good wingate test numbers?

  1. Just out of curiosity I was wondering what are good relative power numbers for a 20second wingate test (all out sprint on stationary bike). I am an undergraduate exercise physiology student and during lab I was selected to be the class test subject. I have always considered my sprint and overall leg strength to be my biggest limiter. My numbers were as follows:

    Peak W/kg: 10.76
    Avg W/kg: 9.52
    Blood lactate pre-exercise: 3.00mmol/L
    Blood lactate post-exercise: 9.4mmol/L

    Note: My professor noted that the handheld lactate devices we were using for measurement were not too accurate but would give us a general idea for the sake of our introduction to exercise testing the lactate response. Because we did this at the end of lab and time was limited, this was done on normal platform pedals, with no warm-up. I figured these numbers to be pretty low but was wondering. Also, any word on if this info is even remotely applicable to adjusting my training schedule considering I do only longer efforts (mainly TT's and some RR's at the cat4/5 level).

    Like I said the lactate analyzers were not reliable other than being consistent from test to test. What is more important is that the change in lactate level was 6.4mmol/L.

    You're either exceedingly poor at sprinting (10.76 W/kg) or are female? For e.g., my peak power is ~12 W/kg and i like to joke that dead people can sprint faster than me. Alternatively, your exercise bike is very poorly calibrated.

    Additionally, the Wingate test of anaerobic power is conducted over 30-secs and not 20-secs.

    Given that you're an ex. phys. student, i question the value of coming here to find info (not that it isn't good), but what the hell is wrong with your library and a couple of good texts (e.g. McArdle, Katch & Katch, or Astrand and Rodahl) or searching Pub-Med for research, and looking through papers.
