What's a good trainer to use? I've heard good things about
the CycleOps Fluid Trainer. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a friend who used it quite a bit this past winter and as far as I know he was very happy with it. He is a Cat 2 racer, and a rear fanatic about maintaining his level of fitness through the long winters here in Minnesota, so I'm sure he really put the trainer through the ringer. (Otta be finding some descent sales on them at this time of the year). 😉
Just got the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine for my wife. It is
very well built, but a touch pricey. I've yet to ride it. I
decided between the Kurt and the 1up trainer. I opted for
the Kurt because the resistance is supposed to be more
realistic according to some. It's very well built!

Peter - I purchased a Cycle Ops fluid last fall and rode on
it all winter (which seems to be endless here in eastern
Maine). I have nothing to compare it to but I found it very
satisfactory. I pushed it hard (lot's of out of the saddle
stuff ) and felt the increase in resistance with effort to
be a great feature. I did read about several trainers and
decided to go with the Cycle Ops with no regrets. mto
