  1. In the business section of todays Sunday NYTime there's an
interesting piece on the how LC processed food sales are
faltering and a little on why.

    Toward the end....

"Dr. Fischer, who worked with Dr. Atkins when the movement's
focus was just diet books and nutrition counseling, says he
thinks that most low-carb products offer people a license to
snack and to eat highly processed, nonnutritious and sometimes
calorie-intensive foods. "People think these products are
intrinsically designed for weight loss, which is a problem," said
Dr. Fischer, who will publish his own weight-loss book early next
year called "The Park Avenue Diet," stressing the importance of
    lifestyle factors in weight loss."

"The reality is that we would probably all be better off if we
ate three meals a day at home cooked from scratch with whole
ingredients," Mr. Wiant said. "But it's 2004 and people are on
the go and there's a real need for convenience products."

    Why?

I am kind of glad that these products are evidently dying out.

I began buying and trying a few as the clearance pricing kicked in.

Most of it gets tossed out after one try. So, I have stopped buying two
bargain priced trial products, and only get one.

HOPE.... you know, it dies hard.

But the reality is that this processed "Fake Food" is just fake in most
cases. But, I should have known that Chemistry still has limits.

I still like that Breyers Low Carb ice cream, however, and dare not to
bring it into the house because it gets immediately eaten.
