  1. I am looking for an entry level bike for duathons... would you consider this an ok bike to start out with?

21" Miyata Liberty Lugged Steel Touring Bike - Great Back-To-School!

    thanks

  2. Miyata's were one of Japans best, if not the best, bike manufacture, they made excellent bikes. The Liberty was one of their lower end bikes which is not a big deal since $135 is cheap and your not going to find a new bike for that price range that will be better, in fact it will be worse!. True it's an old bike but their easy to work on and parts are plentiful on E-bay.

It may have 27" tires which are no longer popular and difficult to find, I think Walmart still sells one 27" tire, but Nashbar has 6 different models from cheap to rather good tires, I think for the price the Panaracer Pasela TG road tire for $24.99 (hunt for a coupon code you may get it cheaper) is the best tire for the money that Nashbar sells for 27".

I would try to offer the person $100 cash and see if he will take it. But ride it first to make sure there's no problems, shift both front and rear through all ranges, and use the brakes, make sure it fits.

I had to edit my above post because I didn't see the other pics, and when I did I noticed it had Shimano 600 derailleur on the rear, that was the best derailleur Shimano had, the 600 name was eventually dropped and Dura Ace took it's place. I couldn't find any reference for the Liberty model on line, but if the Shimano 600 is the original derailleur that came with the bike new then that bike is a higher quality bike then I thought. Man, for $135, that's not bad, make the $100 offer and see if by chance he bites, otherwise pay the $135.

  3. EARLY 90'S SCHWIN ROAD BIKE

    Otherwise what about this bike?
