Good: Padded cycling shorts worn under my nice warm regular shorts. Only got them last week and am
just starting to appreciate them on the longer rides.
Bad: The things we do for love. I got this new bike a coupld of weeks ago and have been "chancing"
it for a while without a spare tube, etc when I go out. Basically I knew that people were getting
little bits and pieces for me for my birthday last week. Anyway - I got some of the bits and also
some tokens and so on and went along to Halfords to get the last bits - end bars, spare tube, under
saddle bag, etc. I also got a decent pump to fit to the frame....I was ready for anything!
Then I got home and before unpacking, my wife said to me...."you didn't go mad did you? Mum and Dad
are coming up at the weekend and they have some bits for you as well.....a pump and tool kit".
Not wanting to offend anyone, my new pump stayed in the box and was ready to go back to
Halfords....I carried on tempting fate.....and tonight I had a very nice fifteen minute
ride....followed by a three quarters of an hour walk home :-( All because I'm getting a pump at the
weekend and didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
Still....those padded shorts are nice, and I do have the big old foot pump in the garage to at least
mene the puncture.
