  1. ANUGreen's new initiative. I'm signed up as a mentor but apparently
there's noone from my suburb riding to work! Nonetheless, there's been
quite a lot of interest and many of the GGGL riders showed up for breaky
on R2W Day. Something to spread around workplaces and get people thinking:

A Sustainable Society Must be a Healthy One

Welcome to Go Green, Get Lean Cycling

In the face of pending oil scarcity and climatic change, we are starting
to recognise that our current patterns of mobility cannot be sustained
in the long term and will have to change. It has also become apparent
that our dependence on motorized commuting has contributed to a
‘pervasive sedentariness’, which has crept over Australian society,
accompanied by a host of detrimental health consequences. Our goal is to
promote cycling as not only a more sustainable alternative to the
private car, but also an enjoyable and health-enhancing way to get from
    A to B.

We have developed a cycling fitness program that is designed to assist
people in overcoming car dependence and get fitter and healthier in the
process. This site will serve as an information resource for those
interested in the program or learning more about living healthily and
    sustainably.

The Go Green, Get Lean Cycle-to-Campus Challenge 2007
ANUgreen, the Australian National University’s environmental management
body, is sponsoring the first ‘Go Green, Get Lean Cycle-to-Campus
Challenge’. The challenge is being run as a pilot program, in the hope
that it may be refined and expanded to include participants from outside
of the ANU next year. It provides a structured, appealing framework for
staff and postgraduate students of the ANU to make the transition from
motorised commuting to cycling to-and-from campus.

    "I've got a bike
You can ride it if you like
    It's got a basket
    A bell that rings
And things to make it look good
I'd give it to you if I could
But I borrowed it" Pink Floyd

I'd *like* to help you Bean, but I really don't fancy riding to ANU
every morning just so that I can turn around and head back to Woden to
    get to work!

    have been...)
