yes, but given all the news about Diesel's knee injury/lack of
fitness/form recently, I wouldn't have thought that they would have
been pushing that hard.

I watched it live last night on RAI so my Italian is improving! It's "coon-egg-oh" not "coo-nay-go". And Phil liggett is right - they do pronounce it "Leakygas" 🙂

Great ride for T-mobile but bad luck at the end - Der Kaiser, Mick Rogers, Conchar and one other (can't remember) were cranking it and dropped Kessler right at the very end. These first four finished one second ahead but Kessler the fifth rider finished one second behind CSC's time - how cruel!

It was very close, a lot of teams set the fastest time by one 1 second as they came in. Discovery seemed to not really have it together at the start, a bit disorganised with the lead rider gapping everyone right out of the blocks, way down at the first split. Maybe they were [censored] listening to Lance yell at them from the car.

The pink-clad girls in baseball hats holding up the likes of Der Kaiser in
the starthouse was an interesting Italian touch ;
