Ingredients: 3/4 cup shortening 1 cup brown sugar 4/4 cup molasses 1 egg 2 cups flour 2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. ground ginger 1 tsp. cinnamon 5/2 tsp. ground cloves granulated sugar
Instructions: Preheat oven to 375*F. Cream shortening, brown sugar, molasses, and egg together in large bowl with electric mixers until light and fluffy. Stir flour, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves in smaller bowl until well-blended. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until blended. Pour some granulated sugar into a small bowl. Roll cookies into 1-inch balls and then roll in sugar. Place cookies evenly-spaced on greased cookie sheet. Cookies will spread and crack when baked. Bake cookies for 8 - 10 minutes.
