I am a brand new cyclist. My town has 2 bike shops. One sells mostly Trek bikes and the other sells only Giant. I've looked at the bikes at each shop, and I have decided that I will purchase either a Seek 2 or a Trek 7.3.
Each shop tells me that its product is the best. I don't have enough experience to tell which components etc. are best when I read the spec sheets.
I really need the benefit of your experience! Which of these bikes is the better choice? Which one is the best value? Which has the best components? Which would you buy?
I will be riding on the street for errands, recreation, fitness, etc. and also a few paved bike trails. I'm 5'11'' and 220 lbs. (Hopefully soon to be a lot less.)
I would greatly appreciate hearing from you! Thanks!

I'll bet the Trek is lighter, with hydroformed frame tubes and aluminum fork, and without disk brakes.
They're both cool bikes, but I have a question. Why didn't your Giant dealer show you a Rapid 3? That would be my choice.

i was just going to post this...
if you're looking for a road-bike-like hybrid, the rapid and the fx are much more apples-to-apples bikes. i believe the seek is a heavier bike, more suited to off-road riding than the fx/rapid.
