I have a 2002 giant nrs3 mtn bike. I want to know if a 30.9 mm seatpost will fit. I now have
a 27.2mm seat post with a 27.2/30.8 mm shim. I want to do away with the shim and get a
setback seatpost.
Thanks

I had the same issue with a Giant. I believe all their seatposts are 30.8, and to answer your
question, no, it has to be a 30.8, or the 27.2 with the
30.8 shim. I even tried to fit the 30.8 from my HT to my FS (which is also a
30.1) and the rough finish of it even caused it to not fit properly. 30.8's are hard to come by but
I believe the Cambria website carries a 30.8 Kalloy. Not my first choice in posts, but better
than none at all. cambriabike.comseatpost.htmOpen ↗

Thats quite a gamble in my opinon when you can spend $40 on a seatpost that fits (with a little
searching), or buy a more common size and take the chance of it seizing in your frame, .10 doesn't
sound like a lot but better safe than sorry I always say.
