  1. I'm about to buy my first hybrid and would appreciate any comments on my
    choice.
I'm buying from my local bike shop as I rate the guy who runs it. I'm
    looking for a bike
for commuting mainly but also for light off-roading at weekends. My budget
    is £200,
£240 at a pinch. I want good seat suspension but no fork suspension. My
    current plan
is to go for the Giant Cypress. It's selling at £160 at my LBS. It seems to
    meet my
requirements but I'm not very keen on the grey colour. Other options are the
    Dawes
    Discovery 301 (£220), or the Dawes Kalahari (£240) although I don't really
    want the racks,
extra-large chainguard etc. on the Kalahari. He's also got a Python Paragon
    on sale for
    £145.
    Thanks,
    Anthony.

If you're going to be carrying anything into work with you a rack and a
pannier are much more comfy than a rucksack, particularly in the summer (no
    sweaty back).

Don't forget mudguards - essential unless you like a wet [censored] every time
    the ground is wet!
