I need to buy two bikes -- one for me and one for my wife. I'm replacing my old Trek 6000 (which was very well used, slightly upgraded and seeminly ready to retire). We are planning to hit most of the trails in our state, doing one a weekend (hopefully). I like jumping, she doesn't (but may learn to). Our budget goes up to around 1300 or maybe a little higher (I'm trying to get her up to 1500, but it may not happen) for both bikes (combined). I
ve looked at the GF Tassajaras for both of us (one Genesis, one Genesisters), but I feel a bit of loyalty to Trek -- all my other bikes have been from them. Does anyone have suggestions on which bike to buy? I'd like to think we could afford 6700's (without discs), but it probably won't happen. Trek also makes the 4500's for men and women. Are they better than a Tassajaras? Finally, I guess, would rebuilding my 6000 be worth it instead of buying one of the bikes I mentioned above and just getting a new one for her?
Thanks for any help,
Brian
