The Lemond Fillmore is a pretty nice fixie. The only thing that turned me off were some of the parts on the bike, mainly all the bontrager on it.
I would recommend that over the pista but there are a couple more that I can recommend.
Check out either the Surly Steamroller or the Gunnar Street Dog.
I own a Street Dog which is a great track frame. Dont know what you're price range is but the Street Dog frame and fork retail for about $950.
Agreed. When I did a lot of research after deciding to buy a fixie. I quickly realized that the big name bike companies were overpriced.
Since I was going to use it as a commuting/trainging bike chromoly was the only choice (titanium track bikes a very expensive). I also wanted a slightly more relaxed geometry form a standard track bike and at least a front brake. I decided on an IRO Mark V Pro ($650). If you decide on this bike, call the shop and order over the phone as there are many free options not listed on the website.
