  1. Hello - apologies if my terminology in't quite up to scratch etc, but I'm all rather new to cycling.

Out on a ride in the week and something has gone wrong with the gears on the back wheel (the cassette?). Trying to change down halfway up a hill and the gears will click a little, the chain will eventually move to the next cog and then drop immediately to the cog it was on before (i.e. no gear change).

Helpful for forcing me to attack hill in a high gear, but not good for keeping my motivation going!

Any obvious thing which it could be? Any decent source of advice out there - either here, or elsewhere on line, which I can follow to track down / fix the problem?

    Any advice appreciated!

  2. Ok, first thing learnt about this forum; there's a board for equipment issues! Awesome! I'll post this there - please ignore / delete this thread from here.
