  1. I had a minor crash last night, some stupid guy who thoughtlessly wandered onto the road caused me to swerve, hit a stone, lose control, and hit a wall at about 15mph...

Everything seems to have survived, apart from the right gear switcher, which I suspect may be damaged.

I'm don't want to bore people with my strange explainations of things, so I've taken a snap of both the left and right swichers and attached them, left being OK, and right being the one I'm asking about.

Is it possible to fix it myself, or would I have to take it to the shop?

    Hope someone can help.

    Regards,

  2. From personal experience, you really should take it to a shop. There are little balls and springs in those twist shifters, and if you haven't ever had one apart, chances are that you'll never get it back together where it will work right. Normally I do not advise people to go to the LBS for minor repairs, but this is more than a minor repair.

  3. [font=Trebuchet MS]Hi, and thanks for your reply. I'm going to take the bike to the shop as soon as I can, because everytime I want to change gear, I need to hold the switcher in place, so annoying!

I'll see what happens and get back to you.

    Regards,
