  1. It looks like we are going to go with GE Profile double oven (JT980 -
Trivection), Downdraft Gas cooktop (JGP979), and their high end dishwasher
    (PDW9880) all in stainless steel.

I've googled for opinions and could not find any for recent models. I even
subscribed to consumer reports for this month, but couldn't find these
brands listed. Doesn't seem like anything really bad that I could find about
these, but would appreciate opinions on your Profile purchase (this years or
    last years models)

I have a GE Profile gas range and fridge... I've no complaints
    whatsoever.

We didn't get the double oven <kick myself> but did get the Profile single electric oven.
I like it a lot. Haven't had any worries that the thermostat was off, it isn't. And things
    cook nicely.

It had been so long with out old oven (avocado green if that tells you anything) that we
were so pleased with all the controls on the new ones.

I don't use the cook timer, opting for the timer on the microwave instead, because it
shuts off the oven at the end of the set time, as it's supposed to, and if you want to
leave whatever in longer, you need to go through the set procedure all over. PITA.

Otherwise, no regrets except we SHOULD HAVE got the double oven.

I wouldn't buy another GE stove for love or money!

We bought a new gas range

    http://tinyurl.com/cosx3

on Nov 11, 2004. But.... It didn't get used until we moved
in to our new place October 05.

    Then the problems started.

    Soot all over everything.

We are about to have our 4th service call. They keep saying
    its operating properly.

    Not!

We went to the store yesterday and were told this would be
the last service and we would get a new stove because
neither we or the store believe the problem is solveable.

    Definitely NOT another GE!

But the fact remains I have not had a properly working stove
since I moved in to our new place. That's 3 months.

    Unacceptable.
