future evolution

  1. What features would you hope to see in future evolution of
    our species or any other species, and which of those do you
    think are biologically feasible?

    Since this is somewhat speculative I suggest you respond not
    on this group but in the thread "how would you plan our next
    evolution?" on rec.arts.sf.science .

    However I would like the input of knowledgeable evolutionary
    biologists on that thread and/or a related one on
    talk.origins entitled "next evolution/creation injection
    desired features" which is why I am bringing the question to
    the attention of this group. I am not advocating creationism
    over evolutionary theory.

    The neurotransmitters at the synapses are I think limited by
    diffusion speeds and are not subject to much improvement.
    The fusing of digital silicon technology with organic
    technology is IMHO both more likely and more interesting.

    Speaking as a civil engineer, wheels are not a better
    solution than limbs
    - because they require a complex infrastructure in order
    to be effective. Now wings or jet power are very
    attractive.

  4. Yeah, I can see the human biological system with jet powered
    flight. ROFL! I'm sorry but some ideas are visionary and
    others are just kooky. You did admit, however, this would be
    more difficult. LOL! Also explain how humans would have
    "wheels" or "treads" in place of limbs and how this would be
    evolutionarily advatageous? I guess they wouldn't need a
    moped and could put a cart strapped on their back at the
    grocery store. But how would they put the groceries in? The
    oil companies would certainly oppose such genetic
    engineering especially if jet powered flight were coupled
    with treaded wheels! ROFL. Mr. Einstead you are either a
    satirist or a kook.

    But humans can swim linked with our respiratory system.
    Didn't you ever see "Aquaman" with Patrick Duffy back in the
    70s? I would think our biology would have to be so radically
    altered through genetic engineering to swim underwater we
    would be another species. Impossible? Maybe not but it won't
    happen any time soon in our future evolution and currently
    in the realm of science fiction.

    How is it developed highly in yourself? How could it go
    much further?
