I'm buying a road bike soon and I'm not sure which one is the better buy. I'm just starting to get into cycling and I was curious which one of these two was the best buy.
The first is a Fuji Roubaix Pro in the Shimano 105 group. The frame is 853 Butted Steel with a carbon fork and it has new wheels that are 24 spoke (double spoke). I am buying the bike for $650 in nearly excellent condition, it has about 300 miles on it at the most. Here is a link with the specs: epinions.combicycles 2001 Fuji Roubaix ProOpen ↗
The second bike is a Giant road bike. The bike was purchased new in 1999 and has been ridden a few hundred miles at best. It has had regular tune ups since new and for the past year has been sitting in a garage without use. The specs are listed here: epinions.comdisplay ~full specsOpen ↗ I would buy this for $750.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer. I really look forward to your thoughts.

Have you tested them? I don't know what kind of riding you're looking at but I would think the Fuji is a much heavier bike. The components seem comparable. Giant is a good brand; it has carbon forks and seat post. I can't tell if the Fuji has a carbon seat post Can you look at the frame and see the weld quality? Everything else being equal I would go for the Giant... (in different models I test rode both the Fujis and Giants; the Giants rode better. I bought the Giant)
I have an 05 Fuji Roubaix Pro I bought for $650. It had 400 miles on it. It has an aluminun frame, 105 gruppo, truativ crank, and Alex 260 wheels. I'm quite pleased. It was a move up from my steel Fuji Finest which is now relegated to a trainer. Fuji is a good bike in general. The frames are well put together...good clean welds. The 05 Roubaix Pro has both carbon fork and seat stays. I suggest you try to ride each bike...the geometries are different.
