I think that many people would agree (some would disagree) that Shimano rings shift a little smoother to the large ring than FSA. But even so, it should work fine with your current setup.

I agree that you need to adjust the FD. Sounds like it is adjusted too far inboard or is angled to far inwards. The chain should not fall off on the downshift.

Instructions for FD adjustment can be found at the park tool website. Best to start from scratch (disconnect cable, adjust height and angle, adjust limit stop screws, re-install cable, fine tune cable tension).

i run one bike with k-force cranks and sram force fd/rd and one bike with k-force cranks and ultegra. both shift perfectly.

if you tune your fd the problem will go away.
