Up for sale is my 1995 Trek Y-11. I am the second owner of this bike. I
bought it from a co-worker in 1996. It's being sold because I just don't
have the free time to mountain bike and would like it to go to someone who
will use it. I have ridden it a whopping 2 times in the last 3 years! This
has been my project bike. Over the years I've upgraded parts to make it
perform better and to lose some weight. It currently weighs in at 28.33
pounds on the bike shop's scale.
I'm also including a spare set of wheels with brand new street tires and a
brand new cassette. I never got around to actually doing any road riding on
these, so the only use the tires have is a jaunt around a parking lot when I
first installed them. The wheels are a few years old, the tires and cassette
are less that a year old.
The optimal candidate for this bike is someone who wants to do some street
riding as well as tear up the trails in the woods. Or use it to commute
during the week and trail ride on the weekends. The bike has a lockout for
the rear shock, which makes it easier to ride on the street. I sent the rear
shock off about 4 years ago to have it professionally rebuilt. When it
returned, I only rode it in the woods a few times.
The bike is in used condition. There are plenty of scratches on the frame,
but none that are potentially hazardous to the integrity of the frame. I've
tried to give you detailed pics. If you'd like other pics, please let me
know. I have cleaned all of the major components, cleaned the braking
surfaces on the wheels using Mavic's wheel cleaning bar, scuffed up the
brake pads, and checked the fork's internals. The brakes feel as good as
they always have, so a brake bleed isn't needed at this time.
The frame is a 21 inch. I'm 5' 10" which is typically short for a 21, but I
have no problem riding this frame comfortably.
If you are looking for a great bike to play with in the woods, and have a
need to do some street riding as well, this is the bike for you.
