For sale is one 58 cm Carrera Brain steel framed road bike with full
Campagnolo Chorus 8 spd. save for the Record Ergo Levers and Record Front
Derailleur.
Yellow Frame (made by Podium in Italy) with red decals, chrome chainstay,
chrome fork. Frame has a 58 cm (c-t) seat tube, a 57 cm (c-c) top tube,
parallel 73.5 degree angles, but does not have a pump peg or a chain hanger.
The wheels were just built by Hans Schneider, the owner of Hans Schneider
Cycles in Huntsville, Texas, using a NOS GP4 front tubular rim and a Wolber
rear tubular rim that looks absolutely identical to the GP4 but for the
sticker. The front wheel is 32h and the rear is 36h. The spokes are Sapim
double-butted and the nipples are Sapim as well. The front hub is in near
mint condition and the rear hub has barely been used as well. Bike will
come with two cassettes, a 13-26 and a 12-21. The 13-26 looks ugly but
works flawlessly and the 12-21 looks new when wiped down.
Other parts to appreciate are the Eddy Merckx Bend 3T handlebars 44cm (o-o),
a 120mm Ritchey Quill stem, a Campagnolo C-Record aero seat post, Record
Headset, Avocet O2 saddle (a toss in; this has been on several bikes), some
Time Equipe Magnesium Pedals with a set of new cleats, and some nearly new
Hutchinson Tempo tubular tires (2 glues on the wheels plus a spare). Oh
yeah, the yellow and red striped Cinelli cork tape looks sweet on the bike.
THIS BIKE HAS LESS THAN 1,000 MILES ON IT AND IS AS FLAWLESS AS IT CAN BE!!!
I am a recreational rider practicing law in San Antonio, and just don't have
time to ride. Plus, I'm divorcing and need to raise money to pay of a tax
bill. I bought this bike second hand from a friend that blew out his knee
on an enduro motorcycle. He rode the bike 4 times before I bought it in
November 2004. He bought it new in 1997. The frameset was made in 1996,
however.
