For Sale, Trek 520 from the late 1980's:
It is 25" frame exactly, the seat tube measures 25" center to center,
the top tube measures 24" cc. The wheelbase is 43" axel to axel.
The color is a pearlessent tannish grayish slightly greenish paint.
The color is hard to describe. The paint is not in great shape,
there are many marks on the frame and a few very small chips,
there are NO dents or deep scratches, all the marks are
superficial. The Frame is hand made in Wisconsin of Reynolds
501 Chromalloy-M Butted frame tubes. The 501 Reynolds is
specifically for touring bikes, it's a little more heavy duty.
On the top tube of the frame it says Trek 500 series, on the
seat tube it says Trek 520. The frame and fork are structurally
excellent.
It has rack mount eyelets on the frame and fork. It has
Cantilever Brakes made by Diacomp. The brake levers are Diacomp
also. It has a Sakae CR Triple Crankset with a granny gear,
Suntour Cyclone Front Derailleur, Shimano 200 GS Rear Derailleur,
Stronlight Headset, Nice Pedals with toe-clips, I'm not sure
what brand. Avocet saddle, I have some other saddles to choose
from if you like. Mallard Helico Matic rear hub with a 6 speed
freewheel, thread on style, Mallard touring rim with 36 spokes.
The original front wheel was lost so it has a kind of generic
Weinman Front wheel with 32 spokes. Conti sport tires in
excellent shape, recently put on. A very cool fluted seat post.
I would like $275 for it and I will pay for shipping it to
you out of that, I'm in Milwaukee, WI.
Let me know if you are still interested,
I have pictures to send you if you want.
The real star of this set-up is the frame and fork, if this
bike fit me a would not be selling it, It's way to big!
Best Regards, Alex
