I have definitely seen forks with more positive retention devices. Many of the downhill specific
forks have a second QR that closes the dropout slot to prevent the axle from moving down. As for
direction of slot, I haven't seen any that are angled forward, the most likely arrangement to
prevent axle ejection.

Not unless you get a 20mm thru axle. Then, check out Marzocchi's QR20 forks - they seem to come in
more varieties than RS's Tulio or any other system. They are, however, usually found on the 5"
travel + forks, because they're intended for extra stiffness, not disc brake proofness.
