Front Derailleur problems (chain falls off inside)

I have an 8-speed crank and when I put a 9-speed chain on one time it would throw off the inside on almost every front downshift. No amount of futzing with the derailleur helped. Changing back to an 8-speed chain solved the problem instantly.

I think you need a 9-speed crank to go with the rest of your upgrade.
