  1. Fresh Lemonade with Raspberry Ice Cubes

Little ones can help in the holiday preparations. Here's another fun use
for berries: ice cubes with raspberries inside! With this simple recipe,
kids can help prepare for the 4th of July picnic or barbecue. They'll love
watching the lemonade turn pink as the berry ice cubes melt in the glass

    24 fresh raspberries
1 can of frozen berry juice mix
    2 quarts water
    1 1/3 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups fresh lemon juice
    8 lemon slices
    pitcher
    2 ice cube trays
    mixing spoon
    large pot
    fine sieve
    eight tall glasses

Pour a can of berry juice concentrate into a pitcher. Add water according
to package directions. Stir with a spoon until well mixed. Adult should
pour the juice into two ice cube trays. Kids can add a raspberry to each
section of the ice cube tray. Count together as child adds each berry.
Place trays in the freezer to make berry ice cubes!
In a large pot, mix 2 quarts of water with 1 1/3 cups of sugar. Stir the
mixture and bring to a boil. Make sure kids are very careful near the
boiling water. When the mixture is boiling, reduce heat to simmer and cook
until the sugar is dissolved. This should take about two minutes. Remove
pot from the heat. Using a fine sieve, strain the lemon juice into the
water/sugar mixture. Place in the refrigerator to chill. When you're ready
to serve the chilled lemonade, let kids place a lemon slice on each of
eight tall glasses. Again, count out loud together as child works. Kids
can also fill each glass with raspberry ice cubes and help adult
    pour the lemonade.
