  1. I'm 59 yrs old. I've been doing half-marathons between 1:48 to 1:52. My practice runs have been only
twice in a week and I run 20k-25k each time. This seems to be working ok for me. I get full recovery
by running only twice in a week. btw I do some some cross training for rest of the week.

Now I want to prepare for marathon and I wonder if I should increase the frequency of running during
a week (e.g., maybe three times) or just increase the distacne but still run only twice a week.

  2. I would suggest adding a couple of shorter runs. and ramping up the distance very slowly. No more
than 10% a week and I would suggest less. This is to prevent injury.

Most runners do better will a variety in their training. Pick one run a week and slowly work up
to about 29 or 30K for your long run. It might be good to do that only every other week. You
don't need to do 50K training to do a marathon. Do some 5K for speed and 10K for some good basic
miles. Keep one or two days a week free for rest.

Each of us is different and as someone about your age and speed, those are the numbers that seem
    to work well for me.
