  1. Hi

I am trying to remove a shimano freewheel from a hub.
The hub is not laced in a wheel, does anyone have any tips as to removing the freewheel.

Would putting the cogs on and using a chain whip and using the removal tool work.

Try putting the hub on a soft-jaw bench vise, then use a box wrench with a long enough handle on the freewheel removal tool.

See sheldonbrown.comfreewheels.html for more info on freewheel removal (destructive and otherwise).
