  1. The uniglide sprockets on my road bike have reached teh end of their
useful life. Despite being well cared for, then turned around and
    reused, they need replacement.

As getting new ones at a sensible price is like obtaining hens teeth, I
have relieved an old wheel of a 7-speed hyperglide freehub.
I'm planning to swap this onto the Ultegra hub which currently has the
uniglide one on (the main difference being that the hyperglide has an
internal thread for the lock ring but the Uniglide one has the smallest
sprocket as the lockring - I cannot put hyperglide on the old freehub)

Will this work? What are the gotchas to watch out for? If it does work
I may be tempted to upgrade (eventually) to a larger number of gears
and some more expensive shift levers.

I'll probably have to change the rear mech (Sante) for something more
modern - a medium cage design would probably be best.
