You are right, I do ride in Germany, although I am not sure what the law is in the state of
Hessen. The biggest problem is that a lot of our bikers are not considerate. I know of one
particular group who runs around like they own the hill yelling for everyone to get out of their
way. So this is from where the problem stems. Most hikers I encounter are courteous as well and
move off the trail when they see me, wave and give an approving nod. I thank them and continue
    forward.

Sounds like a good part of your problem is caused by other mountain bikers. Although no one should
condon the hiker's behavior, it will be difficult to convince them otherwise if you have an equally
large percentage of bikers who are behaving badly. I hope you can help the problem before someone on
either side gets hurt, you already know who will lose trail access.

We don't want it to trip on a perfectly good mountain biker. Perhaps if the trip wire was set a
little slack so wheels will roll right over?

Not riding locally. Most of the trails here aren't duel use as they are unshaded and unpleasant to
hike. (I'm in a desert climate.) But other sports, in other ways and other places, yeah. People can
    be real [censored].

  8. Obstacles are FUN. Don't move them, don't go around them, but attempt to go through/over them. If
you can't, don't move the obstacle, pick up your bike and walk it.

You know, it just might have been some technical rider that popped that limb out there to add a bit
    of challenge to the run.

last season he/or they placed numerous small limbs on the same section of trail. This did nothing
more than make the trail more technical and bumpy, so this year I guess they decided to break

I dismounted my bike and was actually praying this jerk off was still around the area with all
the adreneline from the run still pumping, and removed the obstacle.

Has anyone had this problem before? If so what did you do to combat it? Thanks...Mike

Let me guess: MTV reality show rejects with double crown forks? I do not encounter many bikes where
I ride, but whenever I head up to Heidelberg, I can guarantee finding them on the trails coming down
from Konigstuhl. Too bad - it is an otherwise nice downhill ride.

Hobiecatters have been working on a similar solution - but directed at the jetski problem.

Yeah me too!!! Damn does every German own a dog?! Even had one guy who just kept telling me "she is
only playing..she is only playing" and so I returned with "well get her before I decide to play"

I think the leash laws are broken even more than the 1m path law for bikes.

I sometimes incorporate the stuff into a ridable obstacle if it's too much of a pain to move. Throw
a few more bits of debri on, pile some dirt, build a ramp. I've had these things become part of the
normal trail until some new trail sabotager comes along and wipes it out.

How's it looking for a ride this weekend? I Went to Daun in the Vulkan-Eifel region on Sunday. Great
area for riding and you can't beat the weather right now.

Several people here ride singletrack in Germany anyway, but you have to be EXTRA nice to people
    you meet on the trail.

No, we NEVER ride singletrack unless it's in a sanctioned bike park/area. Never, never, never,
never. Of course, if it was once 2+ meters wide and over the last 200 years has grown narrower,
    what can I do?

There's a road that I ride from Schreisheim to the WeiseStein that has a new sign stating that the
road narrows to less than 2 meters ahead. It's paved, but not a road and in/near the forest.
Technically I think it's forbidden to ride it - unless I have a gartenplatz there.

Screw it, I'm riding here kettenfetzer-worms.detrainigsgelande.htm tonight.

Looking real promising. Got a hold of my riding buddy and he wants to come too. As long as the
weather holds out (and I think it should) Saturday morning it will be.
