Fork Offset question (road bike)

"Trail" is a property that affects steering. In general, more trail gives more stability. Trail is
determined by wheel diameter, head angle, and fork offset. Slack head tube angles require more
offset to produce a given amount of trail. Differences of a couple of mm in offset won't make much
difference. More offset yields less trail for a given head angle.

Yup. Different frames require forks with different offsets, to get the proper amount of trail.

And more rake means less trail. Researched it a few years ago when replacing a fork. basically,
larger frames (> 58cm) with head angles steeper than 73 degrees may not be stable with 45cm rake or
more. Other than that, it's your preference.

Not just trail, which is a dynamic quality, but at slow speeds another characteristic is evident:
gravity centering. We notice it mostly when it is absent or negative and we call it wheel flop.
Essesntially it lifts the bike up slightly either side of centered steering. Tom
