    I just got a trek 5200. The fork has these little nubs that prevent the wheel from coming off if the quick-release is well, released. I'm not sure if this is standard or not, but can these be removed? It's a pain to have to unscrew the bolt a bit to take of the wheel. My old bike (purchased back in '92) doesn't have this.

    any suggestions?

    now standard stuff on most forks. reynolds ouzo pro doesn't have them, but its the only one I know of that doesn't.

    I'm sure they're the result of some litigation. damn lawyers.

    Yeah, they're often called "lawyer's lips." File them off at your own discretion. They're there because they can help keep the wheel from coming off in case the skewer comes loose. So you have to decide if the inconvenience is worth that little bit of additional protection.
