I have just bought a S/h frame, and it has a 26.0mm fork crown race, on a pair of 1" ahead forks. The crown race just rattles around on it. I'm pretty sure this isn't right, as the standard is 26.4, but can anyone else shed any light on this before I go back and complain?
If I have to keep it, I thought of using a center punch to flare out the race a bit to make it fit better, but that doesn't seem like a great or long lasting solution. Does anyone know a better fix?
do you mean you have a 27.0 race, not 26.0? 26.0 on a 26.4 would be almost impossibly snug and most unlikely to rattle.
j.i.s. is 27.0, standard is 26.4.
biketoolsetc.com have inexpensive standard and j.i.s. headsets.
