I've used a Polar 625x in the past but am currently using the Garmin
ForeRunner 301. Both provide bike/run speed and altitude but from
different sources. The Polar uses sensors (a foot pod for running and
wheel sensors for bking) to calculate speed and distance. The Garmin
uses GPS which doesn't require sensors and provides a 3D view of the
course. The GPS has lots of benefits and the display is much better
then the Polar. Whereas the Polar can be used as a regular whatch the
Forerunner is a dedicated training device. Drawback of the 301 is that
you can't use it for a swim (or you have to wrap in an water proof bag
or something) and there is no cadence or power sensor for biking to
connect to it (Polar has this option). It also doesn't provide
temperature. I find the 301 much more accurate and versatile and
overall a better training device. For cadence and speed I'm planning to
buy a separate sensor.

I sold my Forerunner because I was fed up with losing signals under a
cloud or tree canopy. I know use the Polar 625x which I upgraded from
a S710. OK, it may be 1 or 2% out occasionally, but I love it. Great
for interval training!
