    Green Goddess Dressing

    Recipe By :Elizabeth Powell
    Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:15
    Categories : salads/dressings

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    1 tablespoon cider vinegar
    1/2 cup mayonnaise
    1/2 cup sour cream
    3/4 cup buttermilk
    2 cloves garlic -- minced
1/2 cup fresh chives -- chopped
1/4 cup fresh parsley -- chopped
1 tablespoon fresh tarragon -- chopped
1 tablespoon fresh basil -- chopped
    2 tablespoons capers
    Salt and pepper

Beat together vinegar, mayonnaise, sour cream, and half of buttermilk.
Stir in garlic, herbs, capers, and remaining buttermilk. Season with salt
    and pepper, if desired.

NOTES : May be made quickly in blender: begin by chopping herbs, adding
vinegar as herbs are chopped. Blend in mayonnaise and sour cream.
Slowly add buttermilk while blending, until desired consistency is

While this sounds like a good salad dressing (I'm imagining it on tomato
slices as I write this), I always thought that avocado was one of the
defining ingredients for Green Goddess dressing.

Avocado? I've never heard of that in Green Goddess. I'm under the
impressing that it was tarragon that was the star of the show.
