Wondering if anyone has any insights into footpain. Mine specifically is pain in the sesamoid area on the bottom of the ball of my left foot. and what looks like a porokeratoma underneath. Anyone have any clues as to how to avoid pain there -- exactly where all the force goes in pesky racing shoes? Or does anyone know any cycling specific podiatrists/orthopods to consult? (especially in Portland, Oregon area, but anywhere I can call, really) I've gotten orthotics, but they don't seem to help in cycling shoes (they mostly control the heel and midfoot in a walking/running situation) and I'd really like to solve the problem so I can do more riding than grocery grabbing and commuting, and ...well...not too keen on not being able to clip in. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Basically, I have no idea what you just said, but it was something about foot pain. When my feet hurt, I loosten the velcro straps on my shoes.. yes, I am serious! :-)

Could be Planta Fasciitis, which is an inflammation of the tendons in the foot. Painful, and fairly common. Tendons have very small blood vessels running to them, and can take a long time to heal as a result.
