  1. It was a pretty good food day yesterday, and I didn't really cook at
all. Breakfast at the coffee shop was eggs and a bagel for James, and
salad and corn chowder for me. They were out of croutons, but the
Temescal Cafe makes really good mixed-green salads, with a bold,
garlicky vinaigrette. The soup was good but not outstanding, and they
serve both with good baguette and butter, so I was happy with that and
    my iced coffee.

Lunch was store-bought potstickers, and then some guilty pleasure at
Ikea -- macaroni and cheese, which they make pretty well, but which is
sometimes lukewarm. Thankfully, they have a microwave, so I nuked it
    into submission.

Dinner was the best. Went to the Berkeley Bowl and bought a small wedge
each of D'Affinois and Cotswald, some really good cherries (the price
has gone up to $3.50 a pound, but they're still glorious), and two kinds
of crackers. Came home and ate them in bed. Heaven!
