Naturally, I like the guy from Iowa who needs a personality transplant.
;-) They will choose whoever they think will fill a missing niche in
their programming - but they obviously are not too astute about gauging
that ....

Most all the folks from Iowa I know are the nicest and most engaging I
know...there are a LOT of Iowans in my neighborhood (East Lakeview in
Chicago), most of them came here after college.

Some Iowa friends gave me a groovy wool University of Iowa baseball cap a
coupla years ago, every time I wear it I get a nice comment or two and I've
gotten many requests to even *buy* it right off my head. No thanks, I like
it too much :-)

Last weekend there was a group of nice young Io - way kids at our local
corner tap, I think several of them worked for the Uof I public radio
station in Iowa City. I told them "Which ever one of you can sing the Iowa
State Song I'll buy you a drink". I ended up buying four out of six of them
drinks...

[bonus point for ANYONE here who can name a movie in which a character sang
the Iowa State Song...and it's NOT _State Fair_]

We've often joked that if we opened an "Iowa" boutique in our nabe we'd do
very well. We'd sell John Deere and Iowa sports - themed stuff and have a
lunch counter selling pork tenderloin sandwiches and Maid - Rites. We'd
also have stylish things like furniture from the Amana Colonies, etc...
