. . . sometimes the total number of calories on a food label does not equal the carbs/protein/fat on
the label?
I have Food Lion skim milk and the label says:
serving size 1 cup calories 90 carbs 11 protein 8 fat 0
. . . but (11*4) + (8*4) + (0*9) = 76 calories
That is a pretty big difference from the 90 calories on the label. A box of Kellog's Raisin Bran has
the following nutrition label:
serving size 1 cup calories 190 carbs 45 protein 5 fat 1.5
. . . but, (45*4) + (5*4) + (1.5*9) = 213 calories
How come the total calories on the label are so far off? Other foods are sometimes right on. It
seems to be hit or miss. Thanks.
