  1. So it seems all this Puerto thing is going away for all
involved...probably just as well, maybe those who cheated will have
seen the errors of their ways ? Wishful thinking ? Maybe not...

Now how cool would it for Jan the Man to win in 2007 after winning in
    1997 !

Question is, who will Disco hire, Basso or Ullrich ? Something tells
    me it might be Ulle.

Yeah..that would be just great. A guy somehow manages to get off
despite repeated suggestions of cheating, then wins the Tour. That will
really look fantastic. After the Floyd Episode of 2006, do you really
want cycling to lose any last vestige of credibility?

As for Disco signing either of those two...that would be a big mistake.
Neither are off the hook, both cases are stalled due to the legal
quagmire in Spain. Given that both refused DNA testing, if Disco signed
Ullrich or Basso it would send out a seriously bad message and also
turn a lot of other teams against them. (I'm thinking about the teams
who want to do things the correct way).

Ullrich and Basso are big names, but it would be a profoundly stupid
move. There is a very big chance that once the Spanish judicial
investigation has been concluded, the possibility of sporting sanctions
will loom very large again and one or both of them could be banned. Do
Disco want that kind of publicity? Also, how would the signing of a
rider/riders with question marks hanging over them line up with Lance's
repeated claims that the team is all above board, whiter than white?

That said, I expect Disco to sign Basso anyway. I have little faith in
Mr Bruyneel's ability to see the bigger picture, I'm afraid.
Prediction: Basso will be signed up in November. And things will get
all scandalous again next summer, when the UCI finally has the go-ahead
    to chase these guys.

  3. First half has come true..will he finally do a DNA test now, though,
and will things be reopened in the summer?
