I am in the process of converting a flat-bar road bike into a bike with traditional drop bars and Ultegra STI shifters. The bike currently has Ultegra derailleurs and 9-speed Shimano shifters that are designed for flat-bar road bikes. The bike is a 2002 Klein Quantum Race. This bike is designed to have sections of the cables run inside the frame. I have done most of the maintenance on my bikes, but have zero experience with STI shifters or interior cable routing.
I have mounted the shifters on the road bars off of the bike, and have installed the bar tape. I am getting ready to mount everything on the bike but am stuck. The STI shifters include two cable tension devices. The official Shimano name for them is Outer Stoppers. My problem is that I can' t find anyplace to mount them on my frame. I have looked at some other frames, and they seem to be standard parts of the bike. Do I complete install without the tension adjusters? I obviously have the barrel adjuster on the rear derailleur, but would have no "easy" adjustment for the front.

Had a similar problem not long ago. Go to your LBS and ask for inline cable adjusters. Ive seen them range from 1.50 each to 20.00 each, so ask at a couple places. The cheaper parts came from a Specialized shop locally in Raleigh, NC.

The Sora groupset uses inline adjusters, which should be available from your LBS.
