Hi I was just wondering how many girls are out there riding fixed gear or single speed. I just started riding a fixie about 6 months ago and just love it. :p

Hola!
i'm one of girls who ride fixie. 😉 -
Hola, i'm a fixie rider, and i'm a girl 😉
-
This thread oughta' be a hoot....I'm not a girl, I neither have, nor want, a fixie, but I do want to share something interesting that happened to me while on vacation in Florida a couple months back. I thought you gals might like this, and you can file it under "inspiration".
I'm riding my Bike_E recumbent down the beach at Ormond, FL, when I see this squirt-lookin' girl on one of those old-looking "wicked witch of the west" style bikes enter and proceed in front of me. As I passed by, she struck up a conversation about my unusual-looking bike. We went on like this a bit and she suddenly blurts out "Wanna' race to the next umbrella up there?" and I thought "Gotta' be kidding, right? How bad can it be?". I told her to "Go for it!". Mistake. That squirt was in shape! I couldn't get past her and she smoked me. Yep. Squirt chick on old-lady-style bike smokes a guy on a 21-speed recumbent on the beach. Hilarious. After thanking me for the race she turned around and rode off.
A couple hours later I'm on my way back up this same beach when i see her swerving up in front of me. She hops off her bike with a CAMERA! "I gotta' take your pic!" she says, as nobody will believe she beat a guy unless she has some kind of proof. At this point I'm thinkin' "Yeah, this is gonna' show up on FaceBook for sure....". I told her to go ahead and rub it in, as it was pretty funny. I told her I'm 56 yrs old and she says "Wow! I'm 54!!" Now she's nearly howlin' with laughter, right? I told her "It just ain't right....nope....not right at all...."
Sooo....when I got back home what did I do? Why, I posted it on facebook myself. After all, everyone needs something to laugh at these days, and I wish I'd gotten her pic while I was at it. She looked no older than 25!
Never undervalue or underestimate your ride and your capabilities with it, ladies. Ride on, and have fun at it!
